Child malnutrition rates high in Indonesian province

Indonesia's finance minister Sri Mulyani has said that her government is committed to ensuring children get first call on resources during these times of economic crisis,but the latest figures on child malnutrition show that Jakarta has a steep challenge ahead.

In one of the country's poorest provinces, East Nusa Tengagara, the cases of underweight, stunting and wasting among children exceed the thresholds set by the World Health Organisation.

UNICEF is working with the government to treat and prevent child malnutrition and its head of child survival and development Anne Vincent ex-plains why rates of malnutrition are so high.
