Sri Lanka Government chasing two-thirds majority in Parliamentary poll

Sri Lanka will go to the polls again on April the 8th - this time to elect a new Parliament.

Just weeks after his own re-election, President Mahinda Rajapakse has had his opponent Sarath Fonseca arrested and dissolved Parliament as he seeks to consolidate power. A spokesperson for the United Nations says Secretary General Ban Ki Moon is following developments in Sri Lanka "with concern."
