Fiji court sentences eight men over Commodore kill conspiracy
Updated
Fiji's High Court has sentenced eight men to between seven and three years in jail, for plotting to murder the country's coup leader, and currently-interim-Prime Minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama.
Other charges relating to the country's interim Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and the then-interim Finance Minister Mahendra Chaudhry were dropped due to a lack of evidence. Throughout the trial, Justice Paul Madigan made it clear he believes the man responsible for the plot, is not being tried.
