Understanding Australia is a joint project of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and Monash University. It is produced by Radio Australia with the assistance of Monash University's National Centre for Australian Studies, ABC Asia Pacific and ABC New Media.
The Radio Australia series Australia Now radio series was produced and presented by Radio Australia's Sue Slamen with technical production by Ryan Egan.
The Contemporary Australia Study Notes were written by consultants Chris Baker and Sara Cousins.
Chris Baker is a lecturer at the National Centre for Australian Studies, Monash University. His previous work with the ABC includes The Good Citizen: Australian Democracy and Citizenship.
Sara Cousins is a researcher with the National Centre for Australian Studies. She specialises in Australian film history, indigenous issues, law and governance.
Material from Australian government websites, including those of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and the Department of Immigration & Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs, was used in the production of Understanding Australia.
