Beijing seeks dialogue with underground churches

Government officials in Beijing are reported to have held a secret meeting with leaders from banned protestant churches.
The meeting has led to speculation about a possible reconciliation between China's church and state. As China faces a series of sensitive anniversaries and a slowing economy, experts say the government needs to engage with the leaders of the underground churches but there are also warnings the dialogue may yield few results.
