Pre-election tensions surface in Indonesian coalition
Updated
As Indonesia heads towards legislative and presidential elections later this year the ruling Democrat - Golkar partnership is under a cloud.
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is unwilling to endorse his current vice president Jusuf Kalla as his running mate in presidential elections slated for July 8th. And to add insult to injury, the president's Democratic Party vice chair Ahmad Mubarok remarked that Mr Kalla's party, Golkar, would get no more than 2 point 5 per cent in legislative elections to be held on April 9th. But the growing tension belies the fact that neither party could be leading Indonesia's next government.
