SALLY SARA: Ah honour guard stood in formation as the Inspector General of Punjab Police Khalid Farooq laid flowers at a makeshift memorial.

He conceded that errors had been made in the police response to the attack.

KHALID FAROOQ: As for the procedural lapses that we are looking into, and we'll see and who is so responsible will be taken to task; they'll not be spared.

But they laid their life and protected the lives of the guests.

In a side street only a few hundred metres away from the scene, residents are still asking why the police were so slow to respond.

The security camera above this street captured the last pictures of the terrorists casually walking away after the attack. A few minutes later they disappeared into the traffic on motorbikes.

Resident Mahmood saw their escape. He is furious that officers from a nearby police station took almost half an hour to arrive at the scene.

MAHMOOD: Only walking distance. But they, they didn't come. Why are they too late? Too late. Why? Everyone is angry.

SALLY SARA: Pakistani cricket officials have rejected criticism of the police response.

Head of the Pakistani Cricket Board Ijaz Butt has lodge a complaint over comments made by English match referee Chris Broad who said the Sri Lankan cricketers and officials were sitting ducks.

IJAZ BUTT: He seems to have lost his mind. Whatever he's been saying is totally untrue and fabricated. Mr Broad has made some obnoxious comments.

SALLY SARA: Across the road from Liberty Square, Shajeed Tariq is cleaning up. The front of his clothing shop was hit by a rocket during the attack. The terrorists aimed at the Sri Lankan team bus but missed.

Mr Tariq says the people of Lahore are still shocked.

SHAJEED TARIQ: We feel really sad about it because it's our country. It's our city. It's our home. It's our homeland. We feel really bad about it.

SALLY SARA: The clock behind the shop counter stopped at the exact moment when the rocket hit. Shajeed and his father say they will leave the clock as a reminder of what happened.
