Updated
Sri Lanka says it hopes to resettle most of the 280,000 civilians displaced by the civil war, within six months.
The announcement follows a meeting between President Mahinda Rajapakse and the Indian Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon and his colleague, the National Security Advisor M.K. Narayan in Colombo. A UN special envoy, Vijay Nambiar, has also visited displacement camps in the island's north amid warnings that the refugee children were at great risk from abductions and other abuse.
