Australian leaders face-off over 'loot-for-ute' claims
Updated
Australia's most senior politicians are embroiled in a high stakes game over classic allegations of influence-for-favours.
It started with a second-hand ute - a kind of mini truck - loaned to Prime Minister Kevin Rudd for use campaigning in his Queensland electorate.
The claim is that Mr Rudd and his Treasurer, Wayne Swan, used their influence to try to secure funding for the car-dealer who owns that ute. The government has denied the claims, and it's increased pressure on the Leader of the Opposition, Malcolm Turnbull over his pursuit of the claims.
