Controversial F1 head forced into backdown

After weeks of bitter wrangling over the future of Formula One, world motorsports most powerful and controversial boss, Max Mosley, has been forced into a humiliating backdown and his days at the top are numbered.
His idea of setting a budget limit of 80 million dollars for each team has been scrapped; instead teams will try to cut back their spending to 1990 levels. And as part of the deal Mr Mosley has agreed to step aside when his term ends later this year, but his influence as head of motor sport's world governing body is effectively over from today.
