Australia's longest-serving foreign minister, Alexander Downer, says last Friday's attacks in Jakarta represent a strong case for tougher action by Indonesia against radical religious schools and JI's spiritual head Abu Bakar Bashir.

Mr Downer was Australia's foreign minister until December 2007 and worked with Indonesia on tackling terrorism, including a program to build new educational facilities as an alternative to the Islamic boarding schools. Peter Cave began by asking Mr Downer whether the schools programme was having an impact.

Presenter: Peter Cave
