Arroyo addresses the Philippines, but no word on successor

Gloria Arroyo is due to step down in the middle of next year when her term expires, but her opponents believe she's trying to find a new way to stay in power.

Her State of the Nation Address did little to allay their fears, prompting comparisons to the dictator Ferdinand Marcos.
