The top US commander in Afghanistan is warning US President Barack Obama that without more troops, America could lose the war.
General Stanley McChrystal's confidential report repeatedly warns that defeat is likely, without more forces and the quick implementation of a counter-insurgency strategy. The leaked assessment of the eight-year-old conflict was obtained by The Washington Post, but its authenticity has been confirmed by the Pentagon and the White House.
