Melbourne Cup fever spreads across Asia

The hype surrounding the Melbourne Cup has spread far beyond Australia, with punters across Asia able to watch the big race, and in many countries, place bets as well.

Bookmakers say Hong Kong turns over the largest amount of money in Asia on Melbourne Cup day, somewhere between five and ten million Australian dollars, while in Singapore a new deal has just been signed that will increase the amount of betting on Australian racing significantly.
