Asylum seekers' final decision - "We're staying"
Updated
After weeks of negotiations aboard the Australian customs vessel, the Oceanic Viking, 78 Sri Lankan asylum seekers have declared that their "final decision" is to not leave the ship.
The declaration is contained in letters addressed to Australian government officials which were thrown overboard to the media on Thursday.
The asylum seekers also accuse Australian customs officials of mistreating them in an effort to force them ashore.
