Poor sanitation a killer in poor countries

To East Timor, where lack of access to fresh water and poor sanitation are continuing to kill young children.

Figures released by WaterAid Australia say five-thousand children die each year in East Timor, one fifth of them under they age of five. The ngo calls it "Fatal Neglect", as children die of diseases caused by poor sanitation. The Australian government is currently shifting 300-million dollars of the international aid budget to provide clean water, toilets and sanitation services.. a move that's being applauded on the eve of World Toilet Day.
