Weighing up the UN's development goals
Updated
The United Nations conference on Advancing Global Health is in full swing in Melbourne, where civil society activists have been grappling with the consequences of possibly failing to meet the Millennium Development Goals by 2015.
The goals were set down by world leaders in the year 2000 and include eradicating extreme hunger, reducing child mortality, improving maternal health, and combating HIV, malaria and other diseases. But what about those who don't believe in the MDGs at all - those who don't believe they are the right way to address global poverty.
Presenter: Joanna McCarthy
Speakers: Tim Costello, chief executive officer, World Vision Australia; Dr Claudio Schuftan, public health consultant and member of The People's Health Movement (NGO)
