Call for new political goals in Afghanistan

With with barely a year to go before the US military begins its drawdown of troops from Afghanistan, the alliance has achieved only partial success.

Afghanistan today is only slightly more stable than when the US invaded nearly ten years ago, even though NATO's mission has dramatically reduced the presence of al-Qaeda. Now, a new study from a London-based leading authority on global security says it's time to adopt a different multi-pronged strategy for Afghanistan.
