Birdflu has resurfaced in Vietnam and Hong Kong, while Laos is investigating its first possible human case of the disease.

Officials say dead chickens on a farm near Haiphong, in northern Vietnam, tested positive for the H5N1 strain of the virus.

The outbreak comes two weeks after the capital, Hanoi, declared a spate of cases in the south had been contained.

In Hong Kong, two wild birds found dead in a densely populated suburb have also tested positive for H5N1.

And in Laos, laboratory tests are being carried out to determine whether a 15-year-old girl living near the capital Vientiane is the country's first human case of H5N1.

Tests have shown the girl has an H5 virus, but it is not yet confirmed to be the deadly H5N1 strain.
