Russia and India have agreed to launch a joint unmanned mission to the moon, The decision was announced in talks between India's Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin.

Russia's space agency Roskosmos has signed an agreement with the Indian space agency for joint lunar exploration.

They will build a space ship that will be able to send an entire laboratory to the moon.

Mr Putin says high-technology, and military cooperation, are at the centre of bilateral ties.

He says his talks with Mr Singh brought their positions closer on Afghanistan, Iraq, and Iran's nuclear programme
