At least 11 people have been killed in the Philippines in floods and landslides triggered by tropical storm Gale.

At least 10 cities and provinces in the central Philippines have been flooded due to rains brought by tropical storm Gale.

More 3,000 people have been displaced by the floods.

Hundreds others have taken refuge in evacuation centres.

Iligan city in the southeastern Philippines has been placed under a state of calamity due to floods since the weekend.

Emergency funds have been released.

Local governments and disaster-assistance agencies have also begun distributing relief goods.

Electricity poles were blown down by winds of up to 100 kilometres an hour, causing power outages in the central and southeastern areas.
