Fiji trap shooter Glenn Kable sits midfield after the first day of qualifying at the Beijing Olympics.

The Chinese are using harder, orange targets usually reserved for the finals.

The targets are leaving the bunker at pace, and on day one, this produced a low scoring round.

World record holder, Italian Giovanni Pellielo tied with six others, scoring 72.

Kable is on 67, and says he'll need a perfect 50 today for a chance at the finals.

"Yeah disappointing, I finished with 67/75. I started alright right, 24, 25, couldn't get started the second round, missed two early, then two towards the middle for a 21 and finished with a 22 today, so yeah a little disappointed, expecting a bit more".

"Tough conditions out there. No one is shooting exceptionally well, I think the best shooting is at 73, a lot of shooters around 70-72, there or there abouts".
