Russia and Vietnam have signed a series of oil and gas deals.

The accords were concluded after trade talks in Moscow between President Nguyen Minh Triet of Vietnam, and his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev.

Among the deals was an agreement to develop energy fields off the coast of Vietnam.

At a joint media conference, Russia's president hailed the growing economic ties between the two countries and said he hoped trade could grow almost seven-fold to 10 billion US dollars in the years to come.
