Grief-stricken family and friends have paid tribute to a Queensland woman who died in Indonesia over the weekend.

The body of 33-year-old Denni North was found on Sunday morning, lying face down in a swimming pool at the Cocoon Bar Beach Club, north of Kuta in Bali.

She had been working as a public relations officer at the resort.

Foreign Minister Bob Carr says her family has been offered consular support.

"The local authorities are dealing with this and our local staff have been involved," he said.

"We extend our condolences to her family. The sadness is enhanced by the fact that this has happened during the holiday season, and we can understand the grief that has engulfed her family and the community that she is a part of."

The hotel's management has described Ms North as a beautiful and vivacious young woman who will be missed by many.

Indonesian authorities are investigating.
