Hong Kong born fashion student Cathy Yuen has her sights on some of the world's biggest catwalks: Paris, London, New York... and Flemington racetrack - where budding fashionistas get their chance to shine at Australia's premier horserace, the Melbourne Cup.

At 24, Cathy Yuen is one of a growing number of Asian students pursuing their fashion dreams at Melbourne's RMIT University, one of the city's most prestigious education centres for fashion design.

Cathy says she loves Melbourne's multicultural "East meets West" environment and the fusion of both cultures is evident in her unique and delicate work.

With her sights firmly set on an international career, we meet Cathy in class at RMIT as she puts the finishing touches on the outfit she hopes will turn heads in the Fashion on the Field competition on Melbourne Cup Day.
