North Korea's Foreign Minister says his regime may consider testing a hydrogen bomb in the Pacific Ocean, as Pyongyang and Washington continue to exchange military threats.

Ri Yong-Ho is in New York to speak at the United Nations meeting tomorrow.

He was asked by reporters what his leader Kim Jong-un meant when he said he was considering a response against the US because of President Donald Trump's threats to destroy North Korea.

"In my view, I think it will probably carry out an H-bomb test in the Pacific," Mr Ri replied.

Mr Ri reportedly added: "We have no idea about what actions could be taken as it will be ordered by leader Kim Jong Un."

Such a test would be considered a major provocation by Washington and its allies.

More to come.
