Taskforce to combat rise in kidnappings of Chinese

Six months after coming to power, Philippine President Gloria Arroyo's administration is facing an upsurge in the activity of kidnapping for ransom far away from the jungles of Basilan in the south.

The government has announce the formation of a anti-crime superbody to focus on the wave of urban abductions, which select as its victims the country's economically powerful Chinese commuity. And, as Tom Fayle reports, the new National Anti-Crime Commission has been given three months to neutralise the kidnap gangs.
