80% of deaths in Fiji non communicable disease related

80% of deaths in Fiji non communicable disease related

Fiji's Health Ministry says eighty per cent of all deaths recorded last year in the Northen Division were caused by non communicable diseases.

A spokesperson for the interim government says the data shows a significant increase in the number of people with diabetes and high blood pressure.

The leading causes of the deaths were coronary heart disease and stroke.
