Australia and Indonesia sign transport safety agreement

Australia and Indonesia sign transport safety agreement

Posted 11 December 2012, 22:12 AEST

In Indonesia a bi-lateral arrangement to improve transport and safety co-operation between that country and Australia has been formalised.

Australia's Transport Minister, Anthony Albanese, is in the capital today to sign the deal, but key elements are yet to be finalised.

The agreement covers air, sea, road and rail transport, but is missing provisions that would see better co-operation between the two countries on asylum seeker boat rescues.
