Australian business urges govt to promote Asian languages

Leading business figures in Australia are urging the federal government not to drop its Asia studies and languages program, due to end this year.

The 62-million dollar program was launched in 2007 under the-then Rudd government. In letters addressed to all 226 federal members of parliament, the group says Australia's future in the region depended on a bipartisan approach to Australia's understanding of and relationship with Asia.
