John Momis declared Bougainville President

Papua New Guinea's autonomous region of Bougainville has declared former governor, John Momis as the newly elected President.

Mr Momis has won the presidential election with about 40-thousand votes while the runner up, outgoing president and nearest rival James Tanis polled about 16,000 votes. He says weapons disposal and reviving the economy are among his top priorities.
