PNG citizens being urged to register on electoral roll

Updated 16 February 2012, 9:25 AEDT

With just three months to go before Papua New Guinea's general elections, citizens are being urged to make sure they're registered on the electoral roll.

Transparency International PNG is calling for voters to wake up and realise their voice counts in shaping the nation's future.

It comes after 16 transparency officials visited the PNG electoral commission to check if their names were on the roll, only to be disappointed with what they saw.

The Common Rolls for the National Capital District and Central Province have not yet been printed, although Electoral Commissioner Andrew Trawen says it will happen soon.
