He weighs 200 kilograms, believed to be more than 100 years old and his plight has captured the sympathy of people around the world.

He's an ailing soft-shelled turtle from Vietnam.

Folklore says he helped drive out Chinese invaders in the 15th century and then returned to do it all again when the Chinese attacked in 1979.

Hundreds of people are gathering around his home in Hoan Kiem Lake as divers work to capture and treat the turtle for injuries he's received from fish hooks and other small turtles.
