Sri Lanka is dismissing calls for its suspension from the Councils of the Commonwealth and complained to Australia's Department of Foreign Affairs about the latest campaign.

As we reported on Connect Asia on Wednesday, a group of Australian academics, Greens politicians and human rights campaigners is making the demand unless Sri Lanka's agrees an independent investigation into alleged war crimes during the country' civil war.

The group also wants Sri Lanka barred from hosting the 2013 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.

For Sri Lanka's response to the calls, Connect Asia's Cameron Wilson spoke to Sri Lanka's High Commissioner in Canberra, Admiral Thisara Samarasinghe.
