Rowing is a relatively new sport to the Pacific but the Vanuatu Rowing Association is hopeful they will send a team to Rio de Janiro in 2016.

For the first time, Vanuatu sent a team to compete in rowing at the Australian Youth Olympics held at Sydney International Regatta Centre. They competed in the men's quadruple scull where they came 4th in the B-final and the men's lightweight double scull where they came 4th and 5th in the B-final.

Vanuatu Rowing Association club captain Allan Kalafabun says that at the moment they are mostly competing against Australia and New Zealand but would like to see a rowing competition in Oceania in the next few years.

Presenters: Namila Benson, Bethany Keats, Jill Scanlon

Speaker: Allan Kalafabun, Vanuatu Rowing Association club captain and Australian Youth Olympics team manager
