ASEAN states vow united front on South China Sea code of conduct

ASEAN foreign ministers have agreed to speak in one voice to China on the issue of a code of conduct to avoid conflict in the South China Sea.

The ministers, who held a two-day informal meeting in Thailand, are scheduled to meet their Chinese counterpart later this month.

China's growing assertiveness in the South China Sea has in the past divided ASEAN on how to deal with the matter.
