Australian company plays down role in Malaysian mega dam project

Updated 6 December 2012, 22:04 AEDT

One the Australian companies involved in a large hydro-electric power project in Malaysia, Hydro Tasmania, says it's playing a minimal role.

The Australian Greens party is calling on Australian companies to end their involvement in the mega-dam project in Sarawak.

Activists say if the dams go ahead, tens of thousands of people will be displaced.

But Hydro Tasmania disputes that and also says the company is winding down its involvement.

Correpondent: Richard Ewart

Speaker: Roy Adair, chief executive, Hydro Tasmania
