Fred Smith is an Australian who's dealt closely with troops serving in Afghanistan.

He was the first Australian diplomat posted to Uruzgan province in 2009.

Fred Smith is now known as the singing diplomat - after writing and performing songs that captured the experience and the mood of Australian soldiers in Afghanistan.

One song he's written, is called Dust of Uruzgan.
