Apart from the Malay sarong kebaya that was re-interpreted by Pierre Balmain for Singapore Airlines, and worn to this day by SIA's cabin crew, Southeast Asian fashion has not really made a mark on the international catwalk.

Indonesia has launched an Islamic fashion evening, organised by the Indonesian ministries of Economics, Industry and Tourism.

The gala evening showcased fashion for the elegant Muslim woman, including clothes and accessories by two leading designers, Dian Pelangi and Iva Lativah Thahir.
