Japan poised to join the Trans Pacific Partnership

The giant freetrade agreement known as the Trans Pacific Partnership or TPP took another step closer to reality today.

Japanese media are reporting the leaders of Japan and the United States have reached a compromise to keep tariffs in place for the time being.

This goes against the spirit of the TPP's goal of zero tariffs but paves the way for Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to finally announce Japan will join the group.
