MH17 crash investigators pulling out of Ukraine

Updated 7 August 2014, 13:11 AEST

The team of international investigators working at the Malaysia Airlines crash site in Eastern Ukraine has announced the end of the operation, at least for the moment.

The view is that with Russia potentially preparing for a military push to take back territory Ukrainian rebels lost over the last few weeks, the situation has simply become too dangerous.

The pullout was announced by the prime minister of the Netherlands - the country leading the international recovery mission.

Correspondent: Phillip Williams

Speaker: Pieter-Jaap Aalbersberg, head of the Dutch mission in Ukraine
