Myanmar parties step up electoral system debate ahead of 2015 poll

Myanmar's lower house of parliament will form a commission to discuss a proportional representative electoral system in the run up to next year's general election.

Ethnic minority parties and the main opposition National League for Democracy are opposed to such a move, saying a PR system would only benefit the ruling party.

At the same time, the removal of two senior ministers has also raised concerns of a return to a more hardline administration.
