The Pacific Islands Forum is officially under way in Palau.

The nation's President Tommy Remengesau - who is also the new chairman of the Forum - called for all members to collectively work towards the sustainable development of the region's most valuable resource: the ocean.

Palau itself is leading the way, with a plan to ban all large-scale commercial fishing in its territorial waters.

Speaker: Tommy Remengesau Junior, Palau president; Dr Sylvia Earle, renowned American marine scientist
