Philippines postpones MILF peace talks

Updated 26 March 2013, 22:06 AEDT

Philippine President Benigno Aquino has called off the latest round of talks between his government and the rebel Moro Islamic Liberation Front.

The president said the scheduled 37th round of talks in Malaysia were postponed to give him more time to study and review the points agreed to between the two sides.

Some observers however, say the decision may have been influenced by the incursion into Malaysia's Sabah state, by the followers of the Sulu sultan claiming territory on Borneo island.
