Sri Lanka begins impeachment of chief justice

The formal impeachment of Sri Lanka's chief justice has begun in parliament.

Dr Shirani Bandranayake is facing fourteen charges, including failure to disclose her income and misusing her position.

The government says due process will be followed but many fear that its just another move on the part of the executive to crush any opposition to its will.
