Australia constantly 'rediscovering' China

One of China's most senior female officials is currently in Australia, meeting with Prime Minister Julia Gillard.

Liu Yandong, was thought to be a contender for China's recently-announced Standing Committee of the Politburo, but wasn't selected although she is a member of the Central Committee and a State Councillor.

Her visit comes as Australia and China celebrate 40 years of diplomatic relations.
