Frank Mount opens his memoir by saying he "was born a city rat and a political animal with a voracious appetite for knowledge and a love for action in the world".

Those appetites took him to the jungles of Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos and gave him a ringside seat during the decades of war that engulfed those nations, as well as at the turmoil in Indonesia and beyond.

Frank Mount was also an activist and journalist with the anti-communist National Civic Council also known as "The Movement".

Presenter: Joanna McCarthy
