Australian FM defends deferral of foreign aid

Australia's Foreign Affairs Minister has rejected claims that the government's decision to defer a major boost to foreign aid will cost 200,000 lives in developing countries.

The claim was made by the Reverend Tim Costello the CEO of aid agency World Vision.

Bob Carr has defended Australia's foreign aid, saying the actual dollar amount was increased in this week's budget.
