Australia's Ahmadiyya community holds Peace Symposium

Updated 9 November 2012, 15:53 AEST

The Ahmadiyya community in Australia is holding a Peace Symposium this weekend and it says it wants to reach the broader community with its message of peace and tolerance.

The Ahmadiyya faith is a branch of Islam but the community has recently come under attack by hardliners who see them as a heretical sect, particularly in Indonesia.

Last year, three members of the group were beaten to death by Muslim radicals who were calling for the banning of the group in Indonesia.

Presenter: Del Irani

Speaker: Mirza Ramzan Sharif, Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Australia
