Fears vernacular education will be sidelined in Malaysia

Thousands of unhappy Malaysians have turned out at a rally to protest against the government's National Education Blueprint.

Supporters of Tamil and Chinese-language education fear vernacular schools will be sidelined under the blueprint, which the Prime Minister first announced in September.

Opposition party leaders have also lent support to the cause, rallying at Sunday's demonstration organised by Chinese education group, Dong Zong.
